A mothers love
June 10th, 2012
I recently had a customer come in with a wonderful old treasure, a beautiful hand made quilt. The quilt had been hand pieced and hand quilted by her mother when she was just a girl and it was exquisite! It was a log cabin quilt made with all the scraps and feed sacks her mother could get her hands on. What really impressed though me was the way she spoke about this quilt and all that it meant to her, you could just see all of the love and respect she had for her mother, it was like she could feel her mothers love wrapped up in that quilt. She told us how hard her mother worked feeding, clothing and caring for her children, how she would make bread to trade for things her children needed and taught them all of the skills they would need in life. It truly is those simple things that shape the people we become in life and I truly hope that one day my daughters will talk about me the way she spoke about her.
Happy sewing, Kim
