Quilt show weekend!
May 27th, 2012
Well, I made it through our Guild’s quilt show, what a whirlwind!
My girls and I were in charge of over night security on the setup night so we planned a movie marathon with munchies to keep us awake. However when we arrived for our shift a very dedicated group was still in the process of setting up our show, they were working so hard and had been at it for hours, and there was still a table or two full of quilts! The girls, my husband Matt and I pitched in to help. Let me tell you it was hard work and it was very warm! Sophia(10) was the first to fall asleep, followed by Alexis (16) then Matt! His snoring gave him away! Marissa made it until after 3 before she finally crashed. As each room was completed and the volunteers started to head out, those of us remaining looked around and found one last pile of quilts to be hung, and no more room to hang them. That was not going to stop anyone, we had to get creative! After a run to get some extra racks and attaching quilts to anything that would stand still and support their weight, the pile was no more. It was truly amazing, to be surrounded by such beautiful works of art, there were quilts everywhere! When we were done a few of us wandered around in the quiet of the sanctuary to admire the talents of our fellow guild members, it was so inspiring. I have never been to a better quilt show and I felt very proud to be a part of it, my daughter even won a ribbon! So thank you again to all of the tireless efforts of everyone involved, it just would not have been the great show it was without all of you.
Happy sewing, Kim
