Good things come in small packages.

April 16th, 2012

I was reminded of this recently in my quilting room when I made a few samples for kits at the store. You don’t always need to make a whole quilt to enjoy some new fabrics, smaller projects work just as well. When you are looking to dress up a room or make a seasonal statement; a pillow, placemats, table runner or wall hanging may be just the ticket. Or maybe you really want to try out a new technique like appliqué or paper piecing; a tote bag, jacket or book mark sized project is big enough to try it out but not too big to finish if you decide that technique is not for you. I personally, have been learning machine embroidery lately and have used many of my samples to make IPad  and journal covers. I have made several now, each one showcasing a different sample. I will use a pattern and add fabric to my sample to make it the size needed. It really gets the creative juices flowing!
Happy sewing, Kim
